How I began Playing Guitar

Piano was the first instrument that Mark learned to play and he developed a keen interest in the power of musical expression. He learned to play guitar from his older brother and sisters who played folk music. Mark was soon playing guitar alongside them at family gatherings and social venues in Southern California. Next came garage bands and his first electric guitar, emulating the pop music icons of the day. In his freshman year of high school, Mark’s family moved to the Washington D.C area. When his high school sports aspirations were cut short by injuries, Mark turned to his love of music and everything guitar. He quickly became known in the D.C. area as an up-and-coming singer-songwriter and opened for Livingston Taylor at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium.
